“We are a data-driven company,” is a familiar refrain we hear from business leaders and managers. This is evidence of a fundamental shift in mindset, reflecting the fact that leaders have now understood and internalized the concept of the data-driven enterprise. However, when attempting to restructure and reorganize data flows and processes and bring in new ways of working with data, particularly CDOs, CIOs and data teams often run into what feels like a brick wall. Acceptance and lip service may have been paid to a data strategy, but the application of the strategy is fraught with hurdles.
In a global survey, BARC examined the data culture within organizations, the hurdles they are facing, the initiatives that are underway and the wins that have already been achieved with these measures.

Olga Kolcheva
Lead Solution Engineer
"During my career I explored various opportunities: I started in Financial Reporting, moved to Data Warehouse development and ETL and then to BI consulting. The common thread across all those career steps was process automation and better use of data.
While working with data I could see processes that I was not part of, I could find unexpected dependencies and improve those processes through it. Properly prepared and processed data is an x-ray of your business process and I find it most fascinating."
