As ports seek to decarbonise their operations, their demand for sustainable electrical power is set to rise exponentially.

Onshore power consumption at berth, charging facilities for trucks and materials handling equipment and expanding rail infrastructure is already putting pressure on grids supplying ports. Further offshore wind, solar and regasification operations will require new infrastructure. The coastal production, storage, bunkering and seaborne transportation of low density, liquified low and zero carbon fuels will add to this burden , converting ports into major power consumers.

In this session, experts from shipping, ports, microgrid integrators and first mover port power infrastructure providers will give their view on combatting this electricity conundrum.

Victor Shieh

Strategy and Communications Director - IAPH

Victor Shieh is IAPH’s Strategy and Communications Director, having commenced work for IAPH as Communications Partner for its World Ports Sustainability Program which launched in 2018.
Victor has been involved in the maritime and logistics industry since he graduated in BCom from The University of Birmingham, beginning his career as a management trainee of the National Freight Consortium in the UK before leaving for Spain. There he commercially managed an enterprise serving Iberian ports and logistics operations with real-time radio data solutions.
He then moved to Belgium in 1998 where he was European Business Unit Manager for voice-based logistics data systems. He then joined Safmarine Container Lines as Global PR and Communications Executive , a Maersk subsidiary with roots in Africa.
Following ten years in the role, Victor set up his own communications agency, advising shipowners, offshore companies, ports, terminal operators, supply chain logistics companies, and forwarders on all aspects of corporate communications.

Nelson Mojarro

Head of Innovation and Partnerships - International Chamber of Shipping

Nelson Mojarro leads the activities related to innovation and strategic partnerships for the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), based in London. He is responsible for
innovation analysis and trends, particularly with respect to the green transition in shipping.

In addition, he oversees all international engagement beyond the International Maritime
Organisation.

Mr Mojarro leads on the Clean Energy Marine Hubs (CEM-Hubs) initiative, a global
public-private initiative to de-risk and accelerate the transportation and use low-carbon
fuels at scale by the maritime sector. The CEMHubs are supported by ICS, IAPH, IRENA & the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD).

He has worked both in the public and the private sector, working closely and establishing multi-million collaborations with international organisations and initiatives, particularly on clean energy innovation, collaborating internationally at the highest-level. He has served as a Vice-Chair of the Committee for Energy Research and Technology at the International Energy Agency (IEA) and as a board member of the Partnering for Sustainable Energy Innovation at the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Tam Osentowski

Global Vice President, Transportation, Strategic Customers & Segments - Schneider Electric

Tam is Vice President, Global Transportation Segment where she is responsible for the strategy, sales & deployment of Schneider Electric’s end-to-end portfolio for infrastructures of the future across 40 countries. Tam has been at the forefront in understanding, defining, and delivering solutions to address customer pain points through her 22 year tenure at Schneider Electric. Her expertise in sustainability consulting services and strategic customer experience management allows her to deliver tailored services for new and existing customers, with a particular focus on leading electrification efforts to build more sustainable operations.

Texas-based Osentowski earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) designation and holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration.

Michaela O’Donohoe

Strategic Growth Leader - GE Vernova

Michaela O’Donohoe leads business development for Microgrid Solutions business at GE Vernova, where she previously contributed to successful strategies for the Offshore Wind and Renewable Hydrogen businesses.
Before joining GE, Michaela launched the offshore wind program at Gamesa then headed Marketing & Business Development at its offshore wind joint venture with Areva. Prior, Michaela was Chief of Staff at ArcelorMittal, and she has worked in management consulting.
Michaela graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University and has a MBA from ESADE.

Paul Barker

A seasoned executive and advisor with a global career footprint across the Ports, Supply Chain & Logistics, Infrastructure, and Manufacturing sector. In a range of operational and commercial roles notably as UK Director of a major shipping line, Port Director and Commercial Director of two Port Authorities and Head of UK Infrastructure for a multi-discipline manufacturer. He is a recognised advisor in the maritime sector. His insights and strategic counsel have guided industry stakeholders, governmental bodies, and non-profit organisations.

Mikal Bøe

Mikal Bøe is a senior maritime executive with three decades of experience from floor to board level in shipping, finance and technology. During his career he has worked in New York, Singapore, London and Oslo
As Chairman and CEO of CORE POWER, Mikal today plays a key role in the development and deployment of a new generation of reactor technologies as the solution for ocean transportation and ports to meet emission reduction targets.
Mikal is a founding member of NEMO (Nuclear Energy Maritime Organisation) and leads the maritime committee for WNTI (World Nuclear Transport Institute).
