We all make hundreds if not thousands of decisions every day. Some are easy; some are excruciatingly difficult. In this webinar, we will explore the characteristics of different types of decisions as well as the critical steps to effective decision-making, including defining the problem (or question or choice), choosing a decision-making process, developing and evaluating alternatives, and the process of deciding. We’ll provide examples of some of the common biases that lead to flawed decision-making, and what to do when none of the alternatives seems appealing. Finally, we will discuss what we know about the role of emotions in decision-making based on neuroscience and behavioral economics research.
