Trauma-Informed Leadership

About This Series

Trauma is increasingly recognized as a challenge in education, not just trauma that students experience, but educators too. This series will focus on the critical elements of leading a trauma-sensitive approach, whether you are a school administrator, classroom teacher, or system leader. Each session will include strategies to support students, as well as strategies to support staff.

Consider the following results from a recent study of Canadian school administrators (Tranter et al, 2022):

• The overwhelming majority of administrators indicated that both student trauma and educator trauma was significantly impacting student achievement and well-being.
• More than half of administrators reported that dealing with trauma-related issues consumes 20 percent or more of all teaching time.
• More than half of administrators rated the necessity of practicing a trauma-sensitive approach at school as 10/10.
• However, only 6 percent of administrators rated their school’s current ability to practice a trauma-sensitive approach as 8/10 or higher.

All participants will receive a professional learning certificate upon completion of this series. Dates in series (Time: 3:45pm ET) - 45 min sessions.
