About This Webinar

This is a brief summary of this years programme – touching on risk groups, the different types of vaccines for each groups ( first and second line) , medico legal issues, consent and competency. Kirsty will also look at resources, vaccine hesitancy and fatigue.

In the second part of this webinar, we will aim to:
• Summarise the burden of influenza, including beyond respiratory symptoms.
• Highlight the JCVI recommendations for reducing the burden of influenza in high-risk populations.
• Examine the clinical and real-world evidence used to study recommended influenza vaccines.
• Outline the role of flu vaccines in helping to protect beyond flu by preventing influenza-related hospitalisations.

Dr Javaid qualified from Cambridge University and completed his VTS training in Northampton. He has a specialist interest in cardiology and echocardiography and was a clinical lead in the Northamptonshire Community Cardiology service, which had a focus on patients with heart failure and valve disease. He was also the primary care Cardiovascular lead for the East Midlands Clinical Network from 2013-2020. He was named Pulse “GP of the Year” in 2015 for his work in reducing stroke emergency admissions in the East Midlands. He is on the editorial board for the British Journal of Cardiology and a trustee of Heart Valve Voice.
