WEBINAR ENDED
Kruger National Park, South Africa's flagship national park, is more than twice the size of Yellowstone. It's bird checklist is also more than double that of Yellowstone. With over 600 species of birds, some of the best mammal-viewing anywhere in Africa, and an exceptional tourist infrastructure, a visit to South Africa based around the park is any wildlife lover's dream.

Kruger is the sort of place where you can see 100 species of birds, plus the Big 5, in a single day. On Wildside's last trip, owner Kevin Loughlin and his wife Lisa celebrated their birthdays while there! Based in spectacular private lodges, we had elephants wander through one camp and resident African Barred Owlets in another!

Join Josh as he talks about what it's like to visit this spectacular park and how it can be combined with visiting other areas of the wonderful country of South Africa.

    Josh Engel
    Birding Guide and Safari Leader
Josh has been guiding birding and wildlife-focused tours since 2005. He grew up birding in the suburbs of Chicago and knew from a young age that birding and travel would factor heavily in his future. After spending a semester studying abroad in Ecuador as an undergrad, he knew he needed to get back there after graduation. He soon found a job guiding in Ecuador, before moving to South Africa where he spent nearly four years as a full time guide, leading trips throughout Southern Africa, Madagascar, Asia, and beyond. He has guided trips on four continents and conducted bird research around the world. Prior to starting Red Hill Birding, Josh was an ornithologist at The Field Museum in Chicago. Based in Chicago, he typically spends at least a month every year leading tours in Southern Africa.
