The January 6 incident at the U.S. Capitol presented a unique set of circumstances for the D.C. Fire and EMS Department: a planned protest turned into a riot. There are important lessons to be learned about unified command; working with multiple agencies; having adequate resources; and making decisions in a changing tactical environment.
