Bradford Better Start’s Baby Steps programme supports vulnerable women and their partners during pregnancy and their baby’s first months.
This presentation will show how a combination of delivery approaches has strengthened engagement, reach and retention and resulted in better health, resilience and parent-child relationships among families in inner-city Bradford.

Programme Facilitator, Better Start Bradford
As a programme facilitator, I oversee the delivery of Better Start Bradford contracts ensuring compliance with project management methodology and tools to ensure projects are implemented effectively and can be monitored and evaluated.
I am passionate about early intervention and prevention and believe that with the right interventions and support, children can go on to lead more secure, healthy and fulfilling lives.
I have worked in the charity sector for over 18 years and love making a difference to people’s lives and seeing them change. I also enjoying learning new things and implementing change and thankfully my role at Better Start Bradford allows me to combine all those things. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, supporting and challenging school leaders as a governor and staying active.
I joined Action For Children and Better Start, following six years of work in the not for profit sector, previously managing a perinatal service and a mother and baby unit within a female prison.
My background is in Psychotherapy, and it was my experience of providing counselling to adults wanting to heal from the effects of early childhood experiences that initiated my passion for supporting families during the perinatal period, and striving to achieve better outcomes for children during those formative early years.
