  • Where is the PIT-UN Summit taking place?

    San Jose State University is the host for the 2024 PIT-UN Summit.

    The event takes place at two main locations on campus: the Student Union (main program) and MLK Library (Students & Cyber tracks). 

    Please refer to this campus map for locations or click on the individual links above for specific maps of each venue area.
  • Where can I find the agenda?
    Please find the agenda, including all programming and networking events on the Agenda tab here within the BigMarker platform.
  • What is the attire?
    Business casual.
  • What is the Health & Safety Policy?
    If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home, limit your exposure to others, and wear a mask. Report a Case if you have tested positive for COVID-19, with or without symptoms. Isolate as defined by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department.
  • Is WiFi available on-campus?
    Free WiFi is available throughout the SJSU Campus. Please use the SJSU_Guest network.
  • Is parking available if I am driving locally?

    For guests who require parking, please refer to these instructions on how to purchase an SJSU day pass. Parking locations can be found on the SJSU Campus Map

    For hosted overnight guests at the Signia by Hilton San Jose, please charge parking to your room so it will be covered by the Summit.


  • Where can I find more information about the Host Hotel?

    Hosted summit guests will enjoy a multi-night stay at the Signia by Hilton San Jose, located across the street from Plaza de César Chávez Park and within walking distance of SJSU. Hotel confirmations will be sent directly to your email by October 31, 2024.

    Submit any questions or changes to your reservation to our Event Manager, Beth Norber, at beth@bnevents.co.

    Non-hosted attendees who booked in the hotel block will receive a hotel confirmation by October 31st.



  • Ground Transportation

    SJSU is conveniently located within an 8-minute drive from San José Mineta International Airport. The majority of summit activities will take place at SJSU and the Signia by Hilton San Jose.

    Hosted attendees will receive an Uber code to cover transportation to and from SJC and SFO in a pre-event email

    The best drop off and pick up location to SJSU is at the corner of E. San Fernando Road and 7th Street. Refer to the campus map for further details.
  • Where can I find more information about San Jose?
    Please visit sjdowntown.com to learn more about the vibrant downtown San Jose area.
  • Weather
    San Jose’s average daily temperatures for November range from 71° to 62°F. A light covering is recommended for outdoor activities and walking to/from the hotel and SJSU.
  • Luggage Storage

    Checking out on November 8th? No need to go back to your hotel once you’ve checked out. Feel free to store your luggage in Meeting Room 2B at the SJSU Student Union. Storage will be available on Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.

    Note, a coat check will not be available at other Summit times or locations.


Virtual Attendees

  • How do I join the Summit virtually?

    You’re close! BigMarker will send you a unique link via email. Click on the link, and you will be directed to the event home page. From there, simply head over to the Agenda tab and click the button next to the live session you wish to join.

    No downloads are required. The event will play directly in your web browser.


  • What are the system requirements to attend the virtual conference?

    You will need:

    • A stable internet connection (minimum 5Mbps download speed recommended)

    • A computer or tablet with an updated browser (Chrome or Firefox preferred)

    • Optional: Headphones or speakers for better sound quality.

  • Do I need to download any software?
    No, the event will occur entirely within your web browser. Ensure you have a modern, updated browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari for the best experience.
  • What time should I log in for the event?
    We recommend logging in 10-15 minutes before the event starts to ensure your connection is stable and to get familiar with the BigMarker platform.
  • What if I’m having trouble logging in?

    Double-check the link in your email, and ensure you are using the correct email when logging in. 

    If you encounter issues, clear your browser’s cache, try a different browser (Chrome is best), or restart your device. If the problem persists, contact the event's support team via the tech support button.
  • What if I have issues with sound or video during the event?
    1. Ensure your device speakers are on and the volume is turned up. If you’re using a PC, it’s on the bottom right, if you’re using a Mac, it’s on the top right. If that doesn’t work try plugging in some headphones.

    2. Make sure the audio is turned up on the video player. This is located at the top right of the screen.

    3. If problems persist, try refreshing your browser or switching to a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended).

  • What do I do if I lose connection during a session?
    If you lose connection, try refreshing the page or reconnecting to your internet. You can re-enter the session by heading over to the Agenda tab and clicking the button next to the live session to rejoin.
  • Do I need a camera or microphone to participate?
    No, since this is a viewing-only event, there’s no need for a camera or microphone. All communication will happen via the chat or Q&A features.
  • How do I ask a question during a session?

    All PIT-UN Summit Live! sessions will have Q&A enabled. Many in-person sessions will not have a Q&A due to time constraints.

    If Q&A is available, there will be a "Q&A" tab within the video viewer where you can type questions for the speakers. Moderators and presenters will be monitoring the Q&A tab to answer as many questions as possible.


  • Can I join the Summit from a mobile device?
    Yes, Big Marker is mobile-friendly. You can join the event from your phone or tablet. However, for best viewing experience, we do recommend using a laptop or desktop computer.

All Attendees

  • How can I view the event schedule and session details?
    The event agenda, session descriptions, and speaker details will be available within the Big Marker platform. You can access it via the event dashboard.
  • Will the sessions be recorded and available for later viewing?
    Yes, all virtual sessions will be recorded. Be sure to check out the November Newsletter for links to recordings later in the month.
  • What social media handles or hashtags should I use to promote the Summit?
    Join the conversation online via #PITUNSummit2024, #publicinteresttech and @SJSU.
